1998 JCAHO Hospital Standards

  RI.1 The hospital addresses ethical issues in providing patient care.

RI.1.3 The hospital demonstrates respect for the following patient needs:

RI.1.3.5 pastoral care and other spiritual services.

113 The budget includes monies to meet the operational,

programmatic, and capital needs of the Pastoral Services

Department.

LD.1.5 The leaders develop an annual operating budget and long-term capital expenditure plan, including a strategy to monitor the plan’s implementation.

LD.1.5.2 The budget review process considers the appropriateness of the hospital’s plan for providing care to meet patient needs.

200 Pastoral Services is the formal and identifiable means

to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to

provide for the spiritual needs of the client, family and

staff.

Not applicable - This is a definition of Pastoral Services
211 Pastoral Services is clearly identified on the

organizational chart.

LD.1 The leaders provide for hospital planning.

LD.1.1 Planning includes defining a mission, a vision, and values for the hospital and creating the strategic, operational, programmatic, and other plans and policies to achieve the mission and vision.

*Note - Joint Commission standards do not specifically require this
